China Banking Regulator Asks City Banks to Support Small Loans

Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- China Banking Regulatory Commission Chairman Liu Mingkang asked the country’s city commercial banks to ‘strongly’ support loans to small companies and treat them as main clients, according to a statement posted on the regulator’s website today.

Non-performing loan ratio at China’s city commercial banks was 0.79 percent at the end of September while bad loan coverage ratio was 298.7 percent, the statement said.
