Carbon Trust Forms Ties With China, Korea Firms on Standards

October 28, 2011

Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Carbon Trust, which advises U.K. and U.S. businesses on cutting emissions, has formed alliances with companies in China and South Korea to expand greenhouse-gas auditing and certification services.

London-based Carbon Trust signed affiliate agreements with CTI International Certification Co. in Shenzen, China, and the Korea Productivity Center, according to an e-mailed statement. They are the first accords for the trust.

“There has been a political and commercial shift in attitudes towards carbon reduction in Asia,” Tom Delay, chief executive officer of Carbon Trust, said in the statement. “Businesses are recognizing that to maintain a strong export position they will need to prove that they are taking action to reduce carbon emissions.”

Carbon Trust, based in London and part-funded by the U.K. government, already certifies televisions produced by Seoul- based LG Electronics Inc. and imported to Europe.
