TAIWAN DAYBOOK: TSMC Net May Drop 35%; U.S. on China Military

Oct. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s third-quarter net income may drop 35 percent from a year earlier to NT$30.3 billion ($1 billion), according to the average of 17 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg.

The world’s largest custom maker of chips will publish earnings at 1:30 p.m. in Taipei, followed by an investors’ conference. Rival United Microelectronics Corp. yesterday posted its biggest profit decline in more than two years and said shipments and operating income will slide further this quarter.
