Oct. 27 (Bloomberg) -- The euro gained against the dollar and yen after an official said leaders are close to approving an agreement with banks on a 50 percent writedown of Greek debt.
The 17-nation currency climbed as much as 0.4 percent against the dollar and traded at $1.3924 as of 10:28 a.m. in Tokyo. The euro rose as much as 0.4 percent versus Japan’s currency and traded at 106.01 yen.
