Berlusconi Agrees to Step Down by January, Repubblica Says

Oct. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi agreed to step down by January and to bring elections forward to 2012, daily la Repubblica reported.

Berlusconi agreed with Umberto Bossi, leader of the Northern League, which holds the key to Berlusconi’s parliamentary majority, to hold early elections in March in exchange for reforms on pensions, liberalization and bureaucracy, la Repubblica reported.
