TAIWAN DAYBOOK: UMC May Post Biggest Net Decline in 10 Quarters

Oct. 26 (Bloomberg) -- United Microelectronics Corp., the world’s second-largest contract maker of chips, may post its biggest profit decline in 10 quarters, of 81 percent.

Third-quarter net income is likely to decline to NT$1.65 billion ($55 million), from NT$8.7 billion a year earlier, according to the average of 16 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. UMC will publish earnings at 1:40 p.m., followed by an investor conference.
