Peru, U.S. to Seek Defense, Anti-Drug Agreement, Lerner Says

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. will negotiate a bilateral defense agreement with Peru and provide the Andean nation with technical and logistical support for its fight against drug trafficking, Peruvian Cabinet Chief Salomon Lerner said.

The U.S. backs Peruvian President Ollanta Humala’s anti- drugs policy, Lerner said in an e-mailed statement following a meeting today in Washington with Undersecretary of Defense Michele Flournoy.
