EU Says Prefers Voluntary Approach to Bank Accord on Greek PSI

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- The European Commission has a clear preference for a voluntary approach to private sector involvement in a second aid package for Greece, commission economics spokesman Amadeu Altafaj told reporters in Brussels.

“We are very close to a deal” with banks on private sector involvement for the Greek package, Altafaj said. “PSI has a ‘‘very important’’ role to play, he said.
