EU Leaders Discussed Transaction Tax, Seibert Says

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy both discussed the implementation of a financial-transaction tax with European Union leaders yesterday and Brussels and will continue to push this issue with global leaders.

The levy will be “an important subject of the G-20,” German government spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters today in Berlin.
