Oct. 23 (Bloomberg) -- A high level of radioactive cesium was detected in soil of Kashiwa city, Chiba prefecture, near Tokyo, the Asahi newspaper reported, citing a statement by the city yesterday. Japan’s science ministry will conduct further tests on the soil and the surroundings today, the report said. Some 276,000 becquerels of cesium per kilogram were found 30 centimeters below the ground’s surface, the Asahi said, citing the statement.
