Oct. 22 (Bloomberg) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she is confident that European Union leaders will produce an “ambitious” result at a summit on Oct. 26.

Speaking to reporters today in Brussels, Merkel said European finance ministers have made progress and that the EU will provide the means to defend the euro.
