U.S. Stocks Pare Gain as Technology Shares Lead S&P 500 Losses

Oct. 20 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks pared gains as losses in technology shares helped offset optimism that European leaders will increase the region’s rescue fund.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index added 0.2 percent to 1,212.23 at 3:29 p.m. New York time after advancing as much as 0.8 percent and falling 1 percent. Technology companies in the index lost 0.6 percent, the most among 10 industries.
