Oct. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The price of milk in Malawi has increased by 35 percent to 230 Malawian kwacha ($1.38) from 170 kwacha the Nation newspaper reported, citing Malawi Milk Producers Association Programme Officer Herbert Chigona.
The increase follows the introduction of a 16.5 percent value added tax in the 2011-12 national budget, the Blantyre- based newspaper said.
