Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Russia had 9 million cows as of Oct. 1, up 0.6 percent from a year earlier, the Russian Federal State Statistics Service said.
The total of 18.8 million pigs was up 0.4 percent and the 24 million sheep and goats was up 2.1 percent, the service said in an e-mailed statement today. Production of meat and poultry, including byproducts, rose 4.4 percent to 7.1 million metric tons through July this year compared with a year earlier, it said.
