Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, the largest Philadelphia-based law firm according to Internet Legal Research Group, said it hired a Shearman & Sterling LLP equity partner to lead its New York restructuring practice.
Jim Garrity has provided counsel to Bank of America Corp, Daimler AG, and Citigroup Inc, and he represented Eddie Bauer Inc. in the company’s Chapter 11 case, Morgan Lewis said today in a statement. He also has represented debtors, creditors and court-appointed fiduciaries in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and cross- border cases, according to the statement.
“Jim, who is among the most experienced bankruptcy lawyers in New York, will help us continue to offer our clients robust restructuring capabilities,” Charlie Engros, leader of the firm’s business and finance practice, said in the statement.
Garrity was a bankruptcy judge in the Southern District of New York before working at Shearman & Sterling LLP.
