Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Mendes Ribeiro, Brazil’s minister of agriculture, will undergo surgery today to remove a brain tumor, according to an e-mailed statement from the Sirio-Libanes hospital in Sao Paulo.

During tests last week, doctors detected a “probable recurrence” of a tumor that was removed in 2007, the statement said.
