Asmussen Gets EU Parliament Approval for ECB Board Post

Oct. 13 (Bloomberg) -- German Deputy Finance Minister Joerg Asmussen won the support of the European Parliament to succeed Juergen Stark at the European Central Bank.

The 27-nation Parliament recommended Asmussen’s nomination to the Executive Board of the Frankfurt-based central bank in a vote today in Brussels. The vote was 480 in favor and 60 against, with 74 abstentions, a spokesman for the chamber said.
