MetLife Will Explore Forward-Mortgage Business Sale

Oct. 12 (Bloomberg) -- MetLife Inc. said it will explore the sale of its forward-mortgage unit to focus resources on global insurance and employee-benefits businesses.

MetLife Bank started originating forward and reverse mortgages in 2008 through its Home Loans division, the company said in a statement.

The company previously said it would also consider a sale of MetLife Bank N.A.’s depository business.
