U.S. Sends ‘Wrong Signal’ With Currency Bill, Mofcom Says

Oct. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. is sending the “wrong signal” with its proposed currency bill and such legislation violates international rules, the Ministry of Commerce said.

China “firmly opposes” the proposed legislation, the ministry said on its website today. The ministry was responding to the U.S. Senate’s passing of legislation late yesterday that would let companies seek duties to compensate for a weak Chinese currency.
