Oct. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Andrew Garthwaite, global equity strategist at Credit Suisse Group AG, will start providing the firm’s estimates for the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index instead of Doug Cliggott.
The change was confirmed by Katherine Herring, a spokeswoman for the Zurich-based company. Cliggott’s projections had been used in Bloomberg’s weekly survey since September 2010. His year-end forecast for the S&P 500 of 1,100 was the lowest among 12 strategists in the Bloomberg poll.
Cliggott, based in Boston, joined Credit Suisse as its U.S. equity strategist in October 2009. London-based Garthwaite projects the measure will end this year at 1,180 and next year at 1,260. It closed at 1,195.54 today.
