Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Benchmark European coal climbed, heading for the highest close this month.

Thermal coal for delivery to Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Antwerp with settlement next year increased 0.6 percent to $120.50 a metric ton as of 09:20 a.m. in London. That would be the highest closing price since Sept. 30.
