ECB Says Banks Increased Deposits to Highest Since June 2010

Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The European Central Bank said financial institutions increased overnight deposits to the highest in 15 months.

Euro-area banks placed 255.6 billion euros ($344.6 billion) at the Frankfurt-based ECB on Oct. 7, up from 229 billion euros the previous day. That’s the highest since June 30, 2010. Financial institutions borrowed 2.8 billion euros at the marginal rate of 2.25 percent, up from 1.8 billion euros the previous day.
