Sri Lanka’s Central Bank Lowers 2011 GDP Growth Estimate to 8.3%

Oct. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Sri Lanka’s economy may grow about 8.3 percent in 2011, Dharma Dheerasinghe, deputy governor of the island’s central bank, said in Colombo today, lowering a projection of 8.5 percent made earlier this year. The construction industry will help drive expansion, he said. He didn’t elaborate on why the central bank cut its forecast.
