U.S. Stocks Pare Gains as Financial Companies Extend Declines

Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks pared gains after financial companies extended declines, with Bank of America Corp. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. dropping more than 2.3 percent.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.2 percent to 1,125.94 at 12:31 p.m. New York time, after climbing as much as 0.9 percent earlier.
