Oct. 4 (Bloomberg) -- European Central Bank President Jean- Claude Trichet reiterated that the bank’s primary objective is maintaining price stability.

“With current discussions sharply focused on how to deal with the sovereign and fiscal crisis, it is sometimes forgotten that our mandate is to maintain price stability in the euro area,” Trichet said in a parliamentary hearing in Brussels today.
