Greek Wage Bill Focus of Troika, Government Talks, Official Says

Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) -- The heads of a European Union, International Monetary Fund and European Central Bank mission discussed Greek government plans for cuts to state workers’ wages and a labor reserve for 30,000 employees in talks in Athens today, according to a Greek finance ministry official.

The officials, known as the troika, met with Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos and Administration Minister Dimitris Reppas, said the official, who declined to be named. The troika will meet with Venizelos tomorrow as well as with the Justice Minister Miltiades Papaioannou, the official said.
