U.S. Stocks Pare Gains as Commodity, Consumer Companies Slump

Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks pared gains as commodity producers and consumer companies reversed earlier advances.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.6 percent to 1,158.43 at 10:45 a.m. New York time, after rallying 2.2 percent earlier.
