September 29, 2011

Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Canada’s Supreme Court has agreed to rule on whether the country’s broadcast regulator has the authority to require cable and satellite companies to pay television networks for the right to carry their local signals.

The court made the announcement today in response to an application for leave to appeal by Cogeco Cable Inc. and other cable companies in a case involving Bell Canada, whose parent company, BCE Inc., owns the CTV television network.
