Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Peruvian President Ollanta Humala signed into effect a law creating a mining windfall tax that will finance increased public spending.
The tax on profits will help create jobs and finance infrastructure investment such as hospitals, Humala said today at the signing ceremony at the Presidential Palace. Peru is the world’s third-largest copper and zinc producer and No. 2 in silver.
