Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Eight Afghan police officers were shot dead in an insurgent attack on their checkpoint last night in southern Helmand province, an official said.
Authorities are searching for a policeman who escaped the raid in the Nahr-e-Seraj district and is suspected to have aided the guerrillas, Daud Ahmadi, spokesman for Helmand’s government, said in a phone interview. Three officers were injured.
