Air Liquide, ArcelorMittal, Carrefour: European Equity Preview

Sept. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies’ shares may be active in European trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index rose 1.5 percent to 224.17. The Stoxx 50 Index climbed 1.2 percent to 2,106.76. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index, a benchmark for nations using the euro, advanced 2.3 percent to 2,083.38.

Air Liquide SA (AI FP): The producer of industrial gases said it won solar power contracts in the U.S., China, India, Vietnam and Morocco. The shares rose 2.5 percent to 87.21 euros.

ArcelorMittal (MT NA): The steelmaker has pledged to restart the P6 blast furnace at its Florange plant “when demand starts to rise again,” French Industry Minister Eric Besson said. The shares rose less than 0.1 percent to 12.89 euros.

Carrefour SA (CA FP): Groupe Arnault SAS, Colony Blue Investor SARL and Blue Capital SARL control 20.12 percent of the voting rights in the retailer, the French stock market regulator said in an e-mailed statement today. Carrefour shares rose 1.8 percent to 15.89 euros.

European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co (EAD FP): The parent of Airbus SAS may win an order for the A350-1000 aircraft from Singapore Airlines after the European manufacturer announced plans to improve its range and payload, the Asian carrier’s chief executive officer, Goh Choon Phong, said in a briefing in Toulouse, France. The shares gained 2.6 percent to 21.75 euros.

ING Groep NV (INGA NA): Capital One Financial Corp. said its purchase of ING’s U.S. online bank is set to be completed on time, later this year or in early 2012, even as the Federal Reserve extends a review and holds hearings. ING gained 1.9 percent to 4.78 euros.

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (MC FP): The luxury goods company said Jordi Constans will replace Yves Carcelle at the end of 2012 as head of its fashion and leather unit. Carcelle will remain on LVMH’s executive board. Constans, who was the head of the fresh dairy products division at Danone SA (BN FP), will be replaced there by Thomas Kunz. LVMH shares rose 2.5 percent to 111.80 euros. Danone shares rose 1.9 percent to 44.11 euros.

Xstrata Plc (XTA LN): The mining company with operations in 19 countries plans to invest $1.5 billion in the construction of a copper mine in Peru, the Andean country’s government said. The shares gained 1.8 percent to 999.7 pence.
