U.K. Stocks Fall; FTSE 100 Index Retreats 0.3 Percent

Sept. 13 (Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks fell, erasing earlier gains, led by a selloff in Cairn Energy Plc.

The FTSE 100 Index lost 0.3 percent to 5,113.74 at 8:55 a.m. in London after earlier rallying as much as 1.3 percent.

Cairn dropped 8.5 percent to 286.1 pence after the Scottish oil company focusing on Greenland abandoned its second well in less than two months.
