Tropical Storm Lee Forms in Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana Coast

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Tropical Storm Lee formed today in the north-central Gulf of Mexico, about 210 miles (338 kilometers) southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River, the National Hurricane Center said in an advisory at about 1:35 p.m. Eastern time.
The storm has top winds of 40 mph and is moving northwest at just 2 mph, the center said.
