Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Kenya Airways Ltd., sub-Saharan Africa’s third-biggest airline, said passenger numbers grew 28 percent in the three months through June to 850,908.
Cargo tonnage increased 20 percent to 15,286 metric tons, the Nairobi-based company said in a statement e-mailed by the city’s stock exchange today.
Passengers within Kenya increased 65 percent to 184,845 while the number of travelers to the Middle East, Far East and Asia climbed 31 percent, according to the statement.
The company’s shares gained for a second day, adding 0.8 percent to 32.75 shillings by the 3 p.m. close in the capital, Nairobi.
