U.S. Stocks Pare Decline on Signs Boehner Gaining More Support

July 29 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks pared losses on signs House Speaker John Boehner’s plan to raise the debt ceiling is gaining more support.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index pared its decline, losing 0.3 percent to 1,296.36 at 10:54 a.m. in New York after tumbling as much as 1.4 percent.

Stocks recovered as Representative Patrick Tiberi, a Republican from Ohio, said more members of the House were supporting Boehner’s plan to raise the debt ceiling.
