U.S. Stocks Rebound After Bernanke Says Fed Prepared to Act

July 13 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks extended gains after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the central bank is prepared to take additional action if the economy appears to be in danger of stalling.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index advanced 0.9 percent to 1,325.26 at 10:06 a.m. in New York. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 109.25 points, or 0.9 percent, to 12,556.13.
