RUSSIA DAYBOOK: GDP, MSCI Rebalancing, BP-Rosneft Deadline

The government may report first-quarter GDP. The MSCI Russia Index will be rebalanced in a semi-annual review. The deadline expires for BP Plc (BP/)’s proposed share swap with OAO Rosneft.

WHAT TO WATCH: *The Federal Statistics Service may report first-quarter GDP. *MSCI Inc. is scheduled to announce its semi-annual Russia index review after 10 a.m. *The deadline expires for BP’s proposed share swap with state oil producer Rosneft. *Prime Minister Vladimir Putin talks sports in Krasnodar. *President Dmitry Medvedev chairs a meeting on children’s health after 1 p.m.

EQUITY MOVERS: *OAO Polyus Gold may issue a statement on its dispute over KazakhGold after 10 a.m. *OAO Sberbank is due to publish April earning to Russian standards after 10 a.m. *OAO Tatneft said it will continue drilling for oil in Syria after temporarily halting production because water levels rose in underground reservoirs.

MARKETS: *The Micex Index (INDEXCF) rose 0.1 percent to 1,632.23. *The dollar-denominated RTS Index (RTSI$) added 0.1 percent to 1,1866.30. *Russia’s benchmark 2018 ruble Eurobond rose 0.2 percent, pushing the yield down 31 basis points to 6.579 percent. *The ruble strengthened 0.3 percent against the dollar to 27.94 and weakened 0.5 percent versus the euro to 39.8949. *The MSCI Emerging Markets Index fell 0.7 percent to 1,136.38 at 8:58 a.m. *Crude for June delivery fell 1.2 percent to $98.41 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange at 9 a.m. *Brent crude fell 0.5 percent to $113.25 a barrel at 8:44 a.m. *Gold for immediate delivery declined 0.3 percent to $1,490.00 an ounce at 9:01 a.m.
