April 14 (Bloomberg) -- First Deputy Mayor Austin Beutner will file papers to explore a campaign to replace Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing sources it didn’t name.
Beutner, by submitting papers to the City Ethics Commission that will enable him to begin raising money, would join what is expected to be a large field of potential candidates, the newspaper said today on its website. City Councilwoman Jan Perry and City Controller Wendy Greuel have formed exploratory committees. Other potential candidates include Council President Eric Garcetti, mall developer Rick Caruso, state Sen. Alex Padilla and County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.
