Russian Beer Output Declined 10.8% in March From Year Earlier

Russian beer production declined 10.8 percent in March from a year earlier, according to figures released today by the Federal Statistics Service.

Production of so-called light beer advanced 40.2 percent last month compared with February, the service said today in an e-mailed statement.

Carlsberg A/S’s (CARLB) OAO Baltika Breweries is Russia’s largest beer producer, with 39 percent of the market by value in 2009, followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev NV (ABI), with 16 percent, according to researcher Business Analytica. Heineken NV (HEIA) is third-largest, with 13 percent, followed by SABMiller Plc (SAB) and Anadolu Efes Biracilik & Malt Sanayii AS (AEFES), with 10 percent each.
