Dynegy Inc. (DYN:US), a Houston-based power producer, boosted power at a generating unit in Southern California.
The company’s 146-megawatt South Bay Unit 1 was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.
The unit was at about half capacity yesterday, having idled 71 megawatts for unplanned reasons, a previous report showed.
The generator is part of a natural-gas-fired plant with a total capacity of 706 megawatts located south of San Diego in the city of Chula Vista.
One megawatt can power about 800 typical U.S. homes.
