RRI Energy Inc., a Houston-based electricity producer, restored generation at a southern California power plant unit.
The company’s Mandalay Generating Station’s 215.3-megawatt Unit 2 was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time yesterday, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.
The unit was idled in an unplanned shutdown Jan. 1, a previous report showed.
RRI’s power station, which burns natural gas, is located in Oxnard, California. It has three generating units with a total capacity of 560 megawatts, according to the company’s Web site.
One megawatt can power about 800 typical U.S. homes.
