Sistema Hires Crisis Manager to Oversee Russian Oil Interests

January 23, 2009

AFK Sistema, Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov’s holding company, appointed Viktor Khoroshavtsev to oversee its minority stake in OAO Bashneft and other oil assets in Russia’s Bashkortostan region.

Khoroshavtsev, who has a background in the oil industry, previously was a senator from Udmurtia in Russia’s parliament, Sistema said in an e-mailed statement today. He is a “specialist in overcoming crises,” Sistema Chief Executive Officer Leonid Melamed said in the statement.

Khoroshavtsev will replace Maxim Voznesensky as head of OAO Sistema-Invest, the unit in charge of the Bashkir oil interests, Interfax reported.
