Reliant Restores Output at Mandalay Power Station in California

December 23, 2008

Reliant Energy Inc., a Houston-based electricity producer, restored production at a California plant.

Unit 1 of the company’s 215-megawatt Mandalay Generating Station was at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The generator was idled Dec. 21, a previous report showed.

The station in Oxnard, California-based burns natural gas.

One megawatt can power about 800 typical U.S. homes.
