Reliant Energy Boosts Output at Mandalay Power Station Units

December 18, 2008

Reliant Energy Inc., a Houston-based electricity producer, boosted production at one unit at a California plant.

The company’s 130-megawatt Mandalay Generating Station Unit 3 was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The unit had been idled in an unplanned shutdown since Dec. 14, a previous report showed. One megawatt is enough for about 800 typical U.S. homes.

The Oxnard, California-based generating station burns natural gas.
