The board of directors of OAO Norilsk Nickel, Russia’s largest mining company, approved a list of 23 candidates to stand for 13 seats on the board at a Dec. 26 shareholders meeting.
Of the 23, 11 names have been put forward by billionaire Oleg Deripaska’s United Co. Rusal and nine by Interros Holding, which belongs to billionaire Vladimir Potanin, Norilsk spokeswoman Marina Uvarova said by telephone in Moscow today. Deripaska and Potanin are investors in Norilsk.
The other three candidates are Norilsk Chief Executive Officer Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, Guy de Selliers, and Heinz Schimmelbusch, Uvarova said.
