Reliant Energy Restores Output at California Power Generator

November 07, 2008

Reliant Energy Inc., a Houston-based power producer, restored production at a California electricity generator.

The company’s 245.3-megawatt Coolwater Generating Station Unit 3 was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m., the California Independent System Operator said in a report today on curtailed and non-operational generating units.

The natural gas-fired generator has been idled in a planned shutdown since Nov. 5, the report showed. The generator is located northeast of Los Angeles. One megawatt is enough for 800 U.S. homes.
