SurfControl's Billings Grow 24% as Unit Makes Profit (Update1)

SurfControl Plc, a maker of software that blocks unwanted e-mails, said billings grew 24 percent and its Internet services unit made a profit.

Billings in the three months ended March 31 rose to $32.6 million, the company said today in a statement distributed by the Regulatory News Service. The Cheshire, northwest England-based company also said it's in talks with a potential buyer.

The shares rose 1 percent to 480 pence in London, valuing the company to 138 million pounds ($273 million). They are down 17 percent during the past year.
