Telmex to Invest $1.9 Billion in 2007, Cerezo Says

Telefonos de Mexico SA, Latin America's biggest fixed-line telephone company, plans to invest $1.9 billion in 2007, Chief Financial Officer Adolfo Cerezo said.

About $1.1 billion will go to its Mexican operations, $600 million will be invested in Brazil, and $200 million will go to the rest of Latin America, Cerezo said today on a conference call to discuss fourth-quarter earnings.

Telmex, based in Mexico City, said yesterday investment totaled $2.9 billion last year, including acquisitions. The company didn't provide a breakdown of the investment in existing assets and acquisitions.
