Compaq Computer Corp.
Senior VP and general manager, Enterprise Computing Group
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
Chief of Compaq's high-end computing and networking divisions, he was a driving force behind Compaq's $8.7 billion acquisition of Digital Equipment Corp. -- where he worked for 16 years prior to coming to Compaq in 1993. Before taking his current position with Compaq in 1996, he ran the PC maker's desktop computer group and oversaw introduction of its Presario consumer PC line.
EXPECTED TO TESTIFY:
As the only representative from a PC company to take the stand at the behest of Microsoft, his testimony should mirror Microsoft's view of the world: that Microsoft plays hard but fair -- and that it's not alone in trying to cut the most advantagous deals vis a vis the competition. But putting him on the stand could be a pyrrhic victory for Microsoft. Armed with depositions from eight disgruntled PC makers, Justice's questioning could be harsh, indeed.
