CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
Fisher was the lead witness for IBM Corp. during the Justice Dept.'s 13-year antitrust investigation, which the government eventually dropped in 1982. He received his doctorate in economics from Harvard University in 1960. Fisher has written 16 books, has written extensively on antitrust economics, has taught at MIT for 38 years, and is also director of the National Bureau of Economic Research.
EXPECTED TO TESTIFY:
During the trial, he is expected to testify that Microsoft has taken anticompetitive actions to harm rivals in Internet browsers in an effort to protect its dominance of its Windows operating systems.
